If you don't like the gorgeous animation quality, the steampunk atmosphere, the :awesome: adventures of failure expert Mullin Shetland, or the weird story revolving around some hyperspace thing called the Grand Stream, the airship battles will knock you out of your seat. I didn't care for the whiny main characters or quasi-politics that littered the story, but seeing such well-animated fleets of skyscraper-sized floating warships beating the everloving shit out of each other with gigantic cannons is worth the viewing time. The funny thing about Last Exile is that the main characters, Klaus, Lavi, and their cliche technopathic child friend, are annoying and uninteresting, but everyone around them is great fun to watch, especially perfectionist pilot Tatiana and delightfully insane Dio. | ||

Every person who's ever thought it would be cool to drive an airship needs to watch the first episode of Last Exile at the very least.
