The plot was disjointed and often stupid. New characters appeared every couple of episodes, took center stage for a bit and were then relegated to a bit part if they appeared afterwards at all. The setting seemed somewhat promissing and I rather liked Index, but in the end it was a pretty bad show. 2/5 | The plot was disjointed and often stupid. + | The show starts out pretty boring. World filled with magic and science. Girl filled with ridiculous magic spells and a guy that has a Deus Ex right hand. I really couldn't get into it until about half way through. The first story arc was alright but nothing special. The second story arc actually had me interested because its pretty messed up. Final arc was sort of meh but not bad. Overall it feels a bit generic and there are a lot of characters to keep track of in the show. But I like the main characters and the whole magic versus science. (5/10) Could have been better but also could have been made much worse. | ||

Yes, it's basically a shonen show, but that doesn't stop it from being entertaining.. The story involves both elements of science and magic, and it's pretty good. However, some people may take issue with the fact that the show's plot doesn't come close to approaching where the light novels' plot has gone, but that's why an inevitable 2nd season will come, should the show end up being popular enough. 4/5
