Mecha Gojira
Not a compilation movie, Macross: Do you Remember Love is a beautifully animated retelling of the original Macross series. In condensing the main storyline of the TV series, liberties are taken in terms of the plot and characters, so don't expect a 1:1 adaptation from series to film. However, it allows for some very interesting deviations from the source material that work well in the film.
The art in this film is downright stunning. The backgrounds, the ships, the vehicles, the characters are all gorgeously realized and animated. The battles in this film are a sight to behold. The final sequence featuring the titular song is just so remarkably well crafted. It's a film you can watch again and again and find new things to appreciate. Highly recommended.
