Main Description

Sentan Island exists in a state of dreamlike tranquility; a small island, surrounded by the Yuden Sea, cut off from the war between the Northern Government and the Southern Continent Free Zone. Akiyuki Takehara lives on Sentan Island along with his mother Fusa. Despite his mother's strained relationship with his father, Ryuzo, the town doctor, the bond between father and son remains strong. One day the island's tranquility is shattered, when Akiyuki, along with his best friends Haru and Furuichi, are caught up in an explosion on a school bus. The explosion produces a mysterious light which enters Akiyuki's arm. With no time to understand what has happened, Akiyuki is transformed into a creature called Xam'd. Akiyuki rampages through the city, only to be stopped by a mysterious girl who offers him a choice: come with her and live, or stay and turn to a stone. Accepting her offer, Akiyuki embarks on a journey of discovery that will take him to new lands, and help him understand the connection between himself and the world of Xam'd.

Personal Opinions

Thirst Mutilator

Started out great, ended mediocre-ly. The first episode had me super excited for the rest of the series, and I just felt like nothing really delivered after it. As for drama it's not cliche or bad, but the end just left me unsatisfied. 2/5.

Infinitum

Made by Bones, felt like it was an amalgamation of all the cutting room floor ideas that were left over from Eureka 7. There's a lot to like about it, but it felt like it needed to be twice as long for it to really shine as there's an absolute ton of shit that gets thrown at you in the later episodes that make no sense without an explanation. At 720p though it's absolutely gorgeous to watch and the opening song is pretty :coal:

What a let down. It seemed very Eureka Seven at first, and definitely seemed to be moving that way. But it gets very incoherent and very badly paced, and the ending is just mediocre. Meh.
