Sum it up in a Sentence
An all-female mercenary team known as the Knight Sabers preserves the peace and safety of the futuristic city of Mega Tokyo by using highly advanced suits of armor to battle threats such as rogue cyberdroids and the evil megacorporation known as Genom.
Description
After the Second Great Kanto Earthquake split Tokyo literally and figuratively in half the city was rebuilt with great help from Boomers; robotic cyberdroids intended to serve mankind. These boomers are never supposed to go out of control, however this occurs with alarming regularity. The main producer of these Boomers, Genom, has grown into a giant megacorporation with immense power and influence, and the local AD Police organization, trapped behind legal red tape and financial restrictions, is almost powerless. The stage is set for the all-female mercenary team, the Knight Sabers, to don their highly advanced suits of power armor and fight to preserve the peace and safety of Mega Tokyo themselves.

Zorak
A very 80s show about girls in power armor fighting very 80s evil robots. It's pretty entertaining, though the plot is very episodic. Of note in the original series is how fucking great it looks and sounds; the soundtrack is great.

This series is so awesome it hurts. The cyberpunk setting is dark and gritty, the robot / technology designs are cool, the characters are varied and interesting, and the visuals look great even today, but what really seals the deal is the soundtrack. 8 CDs (one for each OVA) worth of tracks, each one as good as the last, and each has a place in the series, whether it's used as an opening or ending theme, performed by the in-show band Priss and the Replicants, or played during one of the many action-packed sequences. This soundtrack is one of the best I've heard for anything, ever. Watch this series. Watch it Right Now.
If you want to watch Bubblegum Crisis 2040 keep it mind that it has the same feel as the OVA series but it's missing the amazing soundtrack, and the characters seem a bit weaker.
