I don't really know what my reaction to this series is. It feels like they want you to read the prequel novels to this series to fully understand it. Main Description
A light in the sky, followed by a strange aura and grisly murders. Each character tells there own connection to the event and to a similar murder spree 5 years ago. All of the different stories are slowly tied together by seemingly minute similarities and the story of Boogiepop is unraveled.

Boogiepop Phantom is a little difficult to follow your first time at it but it does one of the better jobs having intertwining stories involving various characters as the show mixes between what points in chronological time the various stories are taking place. Recommended if this sounds like your kind of thing.

I don't really know what my reaction to this series is. It feels like they want you to read the prequel novels to this series to fully understand it. Despite being hard to follow, it does tell the story very well, and the non linear story telling is quite fun to follow through. I've never seen any other media from this series besides the 13-episode series, and it's always stuck out to me as one of the more unique anime series I've ever come across. The color palette is nearly monochromatic; with nearly every episode having been run through processes to drain the brightness and color to an absolute minimum, bring out grain, and give the picture a slightly blurred look. The sound design too is distorted and nightmarish, with a droning, atmospheric industrial score.
The story is very cryptic. There's never much of an explanation as to what is happening and why (I'm told it makes more sense if you read the books the series is based on), characters aren't exactly verbose, it's all non-linear, as well as unfolding slowly.
If you go along with the dreamlike atmosphere and lack of logic (or like that sort of thing in the first place), then you should definitely give the first few episodes a watch.
