You know, I was coming in here to make this page, and found it was made today of all days. Well, at least someone is on the ball because this show is fricking amazing. The animation is good throughout, and the plot isn't exactly a predictable one either. Wikipedia mentions that this anime had been in production for over 10 years, and that time definitely wasn't in vain. I'm sorely disappointed that this show hasn't gotten the recognition in America that it deserves (maybe because anime is all about moe these days, and this show isn't). This, however, along with the stuff coming out of Studio Rikka (e.g. Time of Eve) shows that SciFi without fanservice is a viable (if niche) genre even today. This is actually one of those few shows that might actually make you cry before the end, too.

Suspenseful, touching, thought-provoking, beautiful, eerie, etc. Surprisingly well done all around. A must-see for people looking for a weird sci-fi show, or a moving drama alike. The only con I can think of is that it can be a little cheesy and hamfisted about the moral near. One of my top 5 shows.

A "realistic setting" SciFi anime with a good plot and almost no anime clichés, which aired in prime time on NHK's education channel and won some prestigious awards too. This is easily one of my favorites.
