Kanata Sorami, a bugler for the army, joins the 1121st Platoon, the most relaxed in the army.
Main Description
Sound of the Sky revolves around a young girl named Kanata Sorami who is inspired to join the military after witnessing a rendition of "Amazing Grace" by a mysterious trumpeter of the Helvetian Army. Becoming a bugler, she is assigned to the 1121st Platoon stationed in the town of Seize in Helvetia, where she is taken into the care of 2nd Lt. Filicia Heideman, M/Sgt. Rio Kazumiya and the rest of the 1121st Platoon.
The 1121st platoon, being stationed by a remote town, sees no action. So their job is to maintain their base, help out the citizens of Seize whenever needed, and be prepared for an unlikely attack.

Personal Opinions
Unpronounceable
I thoroughly enjoyed Sound of the Sky. It has pacing similar to ARIA, though with more somber undertones, on account of the war. Kanata even reminds me of Akari because of how she finds joy in the simplest things, something I find rather endearing. While it is, for the most part, fairly light hearted, it does delve into the tragedy that comes of war. Everyone in the show has seen the dispair that comes of it, something that I appreciate greatly. One small complaint that I have is that the trumpet fingering is off, though I say that only because I used to play it myself.
As a slow paced slice of life anime, it's an easy recommendation to make.
