Sum it up in a Sentence:
D'Eon de Beaumont, a French nobleman, seeks revenge and answers for the mysterious murder of his sister in the years leading up to the French Revolution.
Main Description
The story starts with Lia de Beaumont floating into Paris in 1742 encased in a coffin with "PSALMS" smeared on it in blood. She doesn't decompose, and her soul is angrily seeking revenge. Her brother, D'Eon, accepts this assignment as he becomes an unwitting medium for her spirit. It soon becomes evident that his small quest is actually one to save the entire nation of France from destruction. The series reinterprets actual figures and events of pre-French Revolution Europe in order to include mercury-spewing zombies.

This series is a great introduction to anime for those who think cartoons are for kids. The plot is rich and complex while rewarding those who know their history at least at the undergraduate level. At least one character will make you raise an eyebrow at his seemingly out of place existence, but it comes together nicely in the end. Highly recommend.
