Sum it up in a Sentence

A group of outlaws scour the galaxy in search of the Galactic Leyline, an object said to hold unimaginable power.

Main Description

We start off with Gene Starwind and Jim Hawking, proprietors of Starwind and Hawking Enterprises, a company specializing anything from broken equipment to relationships. In the course of one of their assignments, they stumble upon a case containing Melfina, an artificial human created to serve as the navigation system for the titular Outlaw Star. Unfortunately this causes Gene to come into conflict with a multitude of unsavory characters, including the space pirates and the notorious MacDougall brothers.

Outlaw Star starts off stumbling, with some iffy animation and some really awful moments here and there. By the time the season ends, however, this is a real HELL YEAH show. Spaceships duel using robot arms, a cowboy shoots magic shells out of his space-gun, there's a hot female ninja, and there's even some decent character development going on. The real story of Outlaw Star is that it debuted during a season of much bigger competitors, and there just wasn't enough good will to go around. See this show, enjoy the heck out of the awesome space pirate action, but know that the ending builds to further seasons that will probably never happen.
