A man with a grudge and a mech is seeking revenge on someone he knows as "the claw man".

Main Description

The only thing Van seeks in life is the revenge on "the claw man" for ruining his life and he will stop at nothing to kill him. On his way he meets many other people including Wendy whose brother has been missing for a long time because he's been kidnapped by the claw man. She carries his gun on her back at all times. The claw man of course has his own dream of what the world should be and has many followers who Van and his mech Dann must fight through on his way to revenge.

Personal Opinions

The first of Goro Taniguchi's "Gundam SEED is a fucking abortion, stop liking it" series. I'm a little surprised that I didn't follow it much when it was first airing, though the first couple of episodes are a little dull and full of episodic 'wacky' events that don't seem to matter. Having heard it's worthwhile though, I finally went through and finished, and it was worthwhile if not spectacular. The setting bland, and the main plot is as old as storytelling (revenge), but it's done well enough that it's fine. Got some rather nice super robot action too, for those who are into such things. 3/5

Despite the horribly unfulfilling ending, the rest of the show was ok. In my opinion, many of the characters were not as developed as they should have been or some of them were just sort of deemed not important or worthy of any screen time after their introductory episode. But, with a show that's 26 episodes and has to follow the anime rule of having shitty filler episodes that amount to nothing ...then I guess you can expect that. There are some funny and interesting moments and I didn't find myself wanting to kill (most) of that characters. Overall not bad but not great. It actually was one of the better things I've seen lately despite my unenthusiastic review, so I'll give it a 3.5/5

I'd actually give Gun x Sword a 4/5. It starts slow and the mid-series filler is as bad as any other series' but it gets better and better as it goes along and has one of the better endings I've ever seen, especially for an anime revenge story. I don't see how it could possibly be unfulfilling.

Honest Thief

Seemed a pretty typical scifi wild west anime at first, but the twists to the plot and how it handles it's main theme turned it into a good show at the end. 4/5

Well after hearing all the buzz about it I had no choice but to go give it a shot. It's a bunch of fluff/filler in the beginning, but it least it adds character to the two leads. Once the show picks up though it never stops for a second, and the ending is perfect for a revenge story. Vann is one hellbent protagonist and he never ever lets go of his rage, I think that's part of what made it so fun to watch. Some solid mecha action in there too, and Mexican GaoGaiGar is the most awesome thing ever. Fuck, even the music they use for it is beyond amazing. Dann is pretty cool lookin' as well. Add another believer to the list. 5/5.

The setting isn't very well developed, it's fluffy at times, it loses itself at some places but... on the other hand, it's immensely entertaining. Hilarious, even, at times. And for all of its issues, it resolves the plot in a rather unique way for anime, or revenge stories period, even. And boy is it satisfying. Go to bed.
