Sum it up in a sentence

Food anime with crazy food puns, foodgasms, and techniques focused around baked food.

Main Description

As a child, Kazuma Azuma learned how to make bread from a baker whose bakery was going out of business while the baker learned of the young boy's peculiar power. The baker saw that Kazuma possessed the legendary Solar Hands, hands that had a temperature higher than most others, which allowed dough touched by those hands to ferment faster than those kneaded by normal hands. Using his newfound talent, Kazuma bakes bread for his bread-hating grandfather. Upon the first bite, Kazuma's grandfather transforms into a priest giving a sermon, gets crushed by slices of toasted bread, breaks through those falling slices to come out the top wearing the yellow and black outfit from Kill Bill, surfs atop a wave of miso soup on a giant miso bowl in nothing but a loin cloth, and tops it all off by doing a series of rapid punches holding a piece of Kazuma's bread in one hand and a bowl of soup in another and landing in a pose straight out of a ridiculous kung-fu movie. Those two minutes more or less sets the tone of the whole anime.

Personal Opinions

Willsun

The series moves further away from realistic cooking techniques and focuses more on the gag and comedy aspect as the arcs progress, so if the humor and puns don't do it for you after the first arc, you might want to stop watching before you have to slog through all 69 episodes of the anime. That said, I looked forward to the mostly battle-oriented competitions and what kind of physics-breaking foodgasm will win the day for Azuma. I also like shitty puns, so take that as you will.
