Sum it up in a Sentence:

This is the story of the magnificent battle between good and evil which takes place in the city of Kawasaki!

Main Description

In peaceful Kawasaki City, a branch of the nefarious organization Florsheim seeks to conquer, led by the evil, but kind hearted General Vamp. Standing between General Vamp and his conquest is Astro Fighter Sunred, the rude and crude hero of justice. Florsheim however is inept at actually accomplishing evil deeds, and challenges Sunred almost daily in a park, much to Red's frustration. This is the chronicle of their battles against both each other, and life in the modern Japanese city!

Personal Opinions

Dj Meow Mix

I love this series so much. The "villains" are some of the nicest and easiest to associate people you'll ever see in an anime. The "heroes" tend to be a bit more imbalanced, but are such fun characters. This show ends up being more slice of life, and the bulk of "plot" comes from character interactions, some of my favorites being General Vamp exchanging advice for life and cooking with Red's girlfriend, Kayoko. The humor here is top notch, especially if you love watching other Super Sentai shows. It might also have some of the best opening themes ever, I don't think I'll ever forget them. I generally dislike Slice of Life shows, but I cannot shower this one with love enough. Do yourself a favor and watch it.

Mecha Gojira

Definitely one of the funniest shows I've watched in a while, Astro Fighter Sunred starts off as a parody of classic tokusatsu (live-action) tropes, and then quickly finds itself becoming a well-written and humorous look into the lives of the characters. Definitely worth a watch, even if you aren't a fan of the tokusatsu series it parodies.
