Main Description
ef consists of two main stories. The first is of Renji, a high school student who is unsure of what he wants to do with his life. One day, on his walk home from school, he meets a girl named Chihiro. The two enjoy each other's company and get along very well, but she has a few quirks. They puzzle Renji at first until he discovers their source. Chihiro has brain damage that causes all of her short term memories to disappear after 13 hours. Through the rest of the series the two struggle to maintain their friendship and budding romance in spite of the difficulties caused by this.
The other main story is a love triangle. Kei (Chihiro's twin sister) has been in love with Hiro since they were little kids, but she has never expressed her true feelings. She is always looking out for him and tries to keep him on track at school, which is difficult because he spends most of his time writing and drawing manga professionally. On his way to Kei's house on Christmas night, Hiro has his bike stolen from him by someone who is chasing after a purse thief. This person is Miyako. The two had never met previously despite going to the same high school. Hiro and Miyako start spending more and more time together, which starts to worry Kei.
There are several more characters who are important to these main stories. Yu is an adult who takes care of Chihiro and tries to help her deal with her mental condition. Kyosuke is an aspiring film maker. One day after seeing Kei, he has Hiro introduce her to him and decides he wants to make a documentary about her. Yuko is a mysterious nun who appears in the blink of an eye to give advice to various characters before quickly disappearing.

Dan a man
This is a great show. It has some nice visual effects. Although they seem random at first, each one has a meaning and only appears at appropriate times. The plot itself is also good. It manages to have several interesting romance plots that don't involve any overused supernatural or harem aspects. With only twelve episodes, you'll end up wanting more at the end, but it's probably for the best that it doesn't overstay its welcome.
