Although he served as director for One Piece and Digimon films, Hosoda is usually considered to have gotten his real big start with 2006's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. A longtime direct or indirect associate of Madhouse, he has formed a triumvirate with writer Satoko Okudera and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto to work on his films which often have a strong focus on familial bonds.
