Sum it up in a Sentence:

Rosario+Vampire is about a normal human Tsukune who ends up enrolled in the Yokai academy for monsters and mythical creatures.

Main Description

By a bizzare coincidence, Tsukune Aono has accidentally gotten himself admitted to a youkai acadamy, a school attended by monsters. Just when he thinks he'll run away from there, he meets the beautiful girl Moka and his mood turns ultra happy. However, she transforms into her true form when the rosary on her chest is taken off, and turns out to be a vampire. While at first Rosario+Vampire appears to be a harem series, it actually is more of shounen series.

The anime mostly ignores the shounen elements and focuses more on the harem elements.

Personal Opinions

IShallRiseAgain

First off, I strongly recommend against watching the anime series. It removes all the elements that makes the manga good, and turns it into a fanservice laden generic harem series.

The manga starts out as a monster of the week series, but quickly starts having interesting arcs. There is a lot of fighting in the series which can lead to some awesome moments. For instance, when the useless male lead actually becomes useful in a fight and no longer has to be protected by everyone. While there is some fanservice, there is a lot less than what would be expected. The series also manages to be pretty funny at times too.

Chuu~. Full of fanservice, funny plot, generally terrible show but I watched it through. Second season actually has some production value. 2.5/5.

Slowpoke

Whoever directed this show seemed intent on making it bad. The omission of Tsukune's powers removes a lot of character development and just makes him plain worthless. It also forced the writers, especially in the second season, to either write around a lot of the source material or come up with material on their own, because so much of the manga revolves around Tsukune dealing with his ghoul powers and learning to master them.

The manga is good, so read it. Skip the anime unless you are really into harem.
