Main Description

A strange environmental phenomenon 22 years ago in the Kanazawa prefecture caused the land to split and protrude upwards reaching unprecedented heights, creating the secluded area known as The Lost Ground. On the Lost ground, a fraction of the population are born with a mysterious power and are known as “alters.” These alters have the ability to manipulate matter into a new form unique to the individual and most of these forms are capable of great destruction. Kazuma is one such alter, who works as a mercenary and lives only to fight. After a run-in with the HOLY, the police force from the mainland that uses their own alters to keep peace in the Lost Ground, Kazuma vows to drive them off and maintain the freedom of the people living on the Lost Ground.

Personal Opinions

Redcrimson

For a shounen anime, Scryed boasts an interesting and well-constructed premise as well as a fairly well-paced story. The fight scenes are dynamic and visually impressive. However, this is all completely overshadowed by Scryed's soulless one-dimensional characters who do little more than scream the same four or five lines of dialogue at each other for 20+ episodes. In the end, Scryed squanders what could have been a fun and interesting look into social inequality, the merits of freedom, nationalism and government corruption and delivers merely an above-average shounen brawlfest with cool robots.

BetterDead

From what little I remember of Scryed, this was the worst show I have ever watched in its entirety. Truly dreadful. Don't watch it. Or if you do watch it, watch it for the amazingly regular double entendres.

IT'S THICK.

IT'S HARD.

AND IT'S COMIN' TA GET YA!

Maybe the show is better subbed, but somehow I doubt it.
