The pacing can get a little slow and the director (Imagawa) loves to throw a number of curveballs at the viewer, but a lot of the build-up pays off admirably, the soundtrack is great and the story is epic in scope while still managing to remain quite poignant in the end. Giant Robo has some of the most over the top, action-packed fight scenes in anime yet the mecha are almost an afterthought when you have such an awesome cast of super-powered heroes and villians. The pacing can get a little slow and the director (Imagawa) loves to throw a number of curveballs at the viewer, but a lot of the build-up pays off admirably, the soundtrack is great and the story is epic in scope while still managing to remain quite poignant in the end. Definitely one of my personal favorites.
