I'm Relambrien on SA, but I don't post too much. I watch a pretty significant amount of anime, across a bunch of genres. Usually the shows I watch turn out to be enjoyably mediocre or really damn good.

Favorites and Recommendations

Top Five TV

  • Clannad ~After Story~ - What happens when you follow a harem series past the last episode. Damn good.
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - What happens when you take burning spirit and remove all reasonable limits from what it can do.
  • Eureka Seven - What happens when you turn an anthropology study into a mecha anime with romance.
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica - What happens when you let a guy whose name translates to "Heartless Abyssal Void" write a magical girl anime.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - What happens when you make every character in a world of magic-science completely and totally badass.

Good Movies

  • The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya - The best novel turned into a fantastic movie. If you watched the series, watch the movie.
  • The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - Directed by the guy many claim will succeed Hayao Miyazaki. Really well-done and very touching.
  • Summer Wars - Same guy as above. I would argue this is actually better than The Girl Who Leapt Through Time based on the strength of the large cast of characters, but most people disagree.
  • Kara no Kyoukai - All of them. Based on a series of novels by Kinoko Nasu, who wrote Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime. Absolutely fantastic if you're a fan of hard-to-grasp, abstract ideas.

Less-Popular Recommendations

  • Working!! - Adorably funny with a cast of likable characters.
  • To Aru Majutsu no Index - Its spinoff and second season, mostly. Really good if you like significant world-building and abstract magical concepts. Not so good if it's hard for you to deal with bad characters.
  • Baka to Test to Shokanju - a.k.a. "Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts", a shorter comedy about stupid people getting in stupid situations and having RPG battles to improve their education.
  • The World God Only Knows - Pick Up Artist, the anime. Absolutely hilarious.
