Main Description

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (The Eternity You Desire) is based on an erotic dating sim of the same name, yet has very little sexually explicit content.

This anime follows a boy named Takayuki Narumi and his romantic attachment to a shy girl named Haruka Suzumiya, who he was introduced to as a love interest by his bold, tomboyish friend Mitsuki Hayase. When a terrible accident and the relentless march of time drives the lovers apart, Narumi and Mitsuki must deal with the aftermath.

An OVA was later released which contains an alternate ending.

Personal Opinions

HereticSenility

There's something about this anime that's just beautiful...maybe it's just because it was the first depressing series I watched, but I just couldn't stop crying through this. The first few episodes build up an excellent base, so you really wind up feeling for the characters and even get frustrated at their inability to act (Hell, would you in their shoes? I know I wouldn't). And the end...my god, the end had me depressed for weeks and weeks.

That being said, I reccomend this to anyone who appreciates a depressing, realistic drama about real people dealing with real issues. It's not all angst though, there are periods of humor and romance dispersed throughout that provide superb metadrama. I don't reccomend watching it while you're already down though cause man, I can't emphasize just how depressing this can be.
