A lonely boy tries to nurse his broken heart with some porn, and gets a new girlfriend instead.
Main Description
Youta doesn't know what to do. The girl he's nursed a crush on has instead nursed a crush on his best friend. This might be bad enough, but Youta, being a nice guy, tries to assist her in catching the best friend heart, and the best friend rejects her all the same. Fortunately, on the way home as he's dwelling on these miseries, he happens across a video store he hadn't noticed there before, and the shop owner rents him a porno video to comfort him. Imagine his surprise when the girl on the screen comes out of the screen, but alas, due to Youta's crappy VCR, not as she is supposed to be. After hearing his story, the girl, named Ai(of course) resolves to help Youta win his crush back.
Video Girl Ai is an OVA which ran from March to August of 1992, and was brought over by VIZ.

Personal Opinions
Professor Irony
While it arguably wasn't doing anything particularly original, it was a nicely handled, entertaining little series that covered in six episodes what many other 'magical girlfriend' efforts fail to do in a twenty-six part season. Bonus points for great artwork and the final episode. 4/5.
