Sum it up in a Sentence

Art student lives with wacky residents.

Main Description

Ryushi Shiratori is a teenage art student who came to Tokyo to attend an art school to pursue his dreams as a children's book illustrator. His living condition is in that of a large, traditional Japanese house called Narutaki-Sou that is overshadowed amidst Tokyo's skyscrapers. Even stranger are his kooky, but welcoming fellow residents in the apartment-house. Head of the apartment is Kozue Aoba, second cousin to Ryushi and similarly aged as they were childhood friends even if Ryushi doesn't remember much of it. Conversely, Kozue has split personalities that she is unaware of that emerges when she's subjected to extreme degrees of any emotion. The series progresses as Ryushi slowly progresses on writing and illustrating his own children's book and draws his inspiration from getting to know the residents of Narutaki-Sou better and the crazy antics he has with them. At the end of the day, they all have a good ending.

Personal Opinions

The series will either make you smile and go "awwww" or you'll roll your eyes and stick a finger in your throat. This is because Mahoraba is full of heartwarming and Full House-like endings to wrap up episodes. While the storybook-like theme permeates throughout most of the episodes and dealing with Kozue's multiple personalities is pretty frustrating, there's plenty of :unsmith: stories with the other inhabitants of the house that are funny and interesting to see. --Willsun 19:30, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
